Are You Prepared?

Spread the love

Exodus 16 vs. 31 (NIV)
The people of Israel called the bread manna.  It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey.

Even with the smallest of a task, there is some level of preparation.  If you are going to do your hair, the essential items needed is a comb or a brush.  Unbeknownst to them, the Israelites were about to undertake a forty-year journey most of it in the desert; they were not prepared for this kind of undertaking.

There was a cloud provided during the day to protect them from the hot sun, a pillar of fire to provide heat for the cold night, and a small little wafer that tasted like coriander with honey.  A single serving of coriander seeds contains 16 grams of fat, 14 grams of protein, 54 grams of carbohydrates, phosphorus, calcium, iron, and vitamins.

This small little seed can lower blood sugar, slow osteoporosis, help with digestion, treat anemia, protect the body from foodborne illnesses such as salmonella, contain components to address skin issues, and protect the body from arthritic problems.

There are about six nutrients that your body needs to survive.

  1. Proteins: Promote healthy cell and membrane structure
  2. Fats: Needed to make steroids and hormones
  3. Carbohydrates: Important for the oxidation of fat, and energy
  4. Vitamins: are essential for the functioning of enzymes.
  5. Minerals: are needed for enzyme activation.
  6. Water: Hydrates the body and helps prepare toxins for excretion.

As you can see, this small seed carries the nutrients needed for the body to survive, which is why it was given to them. The Israelites were not prepared for what was before them; they should not have survived, they did not have the food, water, medication, shelter, or training. Have you survived something that you didn’t see coming, something that you were not prepared for at all?  Something that you did not have all the necessary tools and equipment, and training? The truth is that you may not have been prepared, but God was.
