Tears

Spread the love

John 11 vs. 33-35 (NKJV)
Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. And He said, “Where have you laid him?”  They said unto Him, “Lord, come and see.”  Jesus wept.

Don’t be alarmed should a tear streak you face
It may be there, your sorrows to erase
For tears relieve the pain caused by grief
Your soul seems to exhale with a cry of relief- Ms. B

Tears are a salty fluid full of protein, water, mucus, and oil. It is released from the lacrimal gland in the upper, outer region of your eye.

Did you know that crying helps our bodies get rid of toxins? While many believe tears are a sign of weakness, it is indeed a sign of wisdom, because it helps to reduce stress immediately.

In fact, in one study scientist collected both reflex tears and emotional tears. Reflex tears occur after peeling an onion, and emotional tears occur after experiencing something sad. When scientists analyzed the content of the tears, they found each type was very different. Reflex tears were found to be about 95 percent water, but emotional tears contained a chemical called leucine-enkephalin. Leucine-enkephalin is an opioid peptide. In the brain, this chemical binds to the same receptor as morphine. So crying actually reduces pain. A scientist also found stress hormones in the emotional tears, which means crying decreases depression, anxiety, and manic episodes.

Every day we go through life accumulating conflicts and resentments. We absorb so much toxicity that builds up stress and frustration that if not dealt with can begin to take a toll on our physical bodies, making us more prone to high blood pressure, depression, anxiety and a host of other dangerous ailments.  The body is fearfully and wonderfully made. Who would have thought that there is power in such a small thing called tears?
