Soybeans have much power packed in their small package, filled with isoflavones, fiber, calcium, iron, potassium, B vitamins omega 3- essential fatty acids and zinc, and it has many health benefits.

It has been documented that isoflavone can prevent the growth of some breast cancers and slow the growth of prostate cancer in men. It is also useful in slowing osteoporosis, lowering cholesterol and a host of other ailments, but there have been mixed messages about whether soy products are safe for men because isoflavone is an estrogen-like molecule.

Studies show that high soy intake can decrease sperm count in men and can cause penile dysfunction.  While there are other mitigating factors such as obesity, depression, heart disease, and medications that can affect the libido of men, soy products in excessive amounts can hurt men.

Men who have chosen a meatless diet but rely heavily on soy products for their protein or men who use soy protein daily to help with muscle building, thus their intake is in high amounts may be predisposed to some of the side effects of isoflavones in excessive doses.

Because of the excellent health benefit of soy, most Doctors agree that when used in moderation that men can experience last longing health results. So, go and enjoy that tofu smoothie in the morning, and have something else for lunch and dinner such as other healthy choices of fruits, vegetables, beans, and grains.
