Time On The Clock

Spread the love

Isaiah 38:7-8 (NLT)
“And this is the sign from the Lord to prove that he will do as he promised: I will cause the sun’s shadow to move ten steps backward on the sundial of Ahaz!” So, the shadow on the sundial moved backward ten steps.

When King Hezekiah became sick unto death, he was told to go home and get his affairs in order. I have been with many family members when those words were spoken; the words suck the air out of the room and it becomes apparent that the life of the one receiving the information is now on the clock. The countdown has begun, and the sand runs quickly through the glass.

When people are under this tremendous stress, their focus seems to be the clock, but I would like to suggest that all eyes should turn to the Clock Keeper. The One who keeps the time is able, at any moment, to stop the clock and even add more time. Years ago, when I was diagnosed with a disease that gave my life an expiration date, like Hezekiah I chose to go to God and ask for more time. Because I did this, God led me to the right doctors and a lifestyle that has added many more years to my life. Having this time has allowed me to get back into the gift of living and not just sit around waiting for time to run out.

Many think it was a miracle that Hezekiah’s life was extended, but since most of us do not think miracles happen very often, we don’t believe that we can recover when we are sick. However, just as God led Hezekiah to healing by way of the figs, we too can be led to healing that can not only extend our lives but heal us altogether. If you are sick or troubled with something that seems to be out of your hands, why not consult God? After all, since He made you, He knows exactly how to undo the trouble you are in or the sickness you are experiencing.
